Moving to Vancouver / Transloĝiĝo al Vankuvero
| Charlene and I have decided that we want to live in the greatest city on earth, the jewel of the west coast, Vancouver. So, we're going. We head out on May 27 to start a new life, pretty much from scratch. So far we haven't secured work nor a place to live, but we're taking a chance and are prepared to make sacrifices. (Crazy, eh?) It's something we just have to do. Our roots have grown too deep too early in our lives, so it's time to hack ourselves free and see what happens. Why Vancouver? Aside from the stunning natural beauty of a region where the mountains meet the sea, Vancouver is a large city with all the amenities and vibrant culture without being too huge; it's known for friendly, socially progressive, aware and advanced people with a laid back attitude and love of the outdoors; and it has one of the best climates in Canada. One of the world's best cities without leaving one of the world's best countries; nordic without winter... what more could you ask for? There's not much that Vancouver doesn't offer, and we're very excited at our opportunity to start to discover all the reasons that make it a top-ranking place to live! We're also very lucky to have a couple of friends there and some of Charlene's extended family as well. Stay tuned for updates during our super busy and exciting five remaining weeks before the epic journey! |
Karlina kaj mi decidis ke ni volas ekloĝi en la plej bona urbo sur la tero, la juvelo de la okcidenta marbordo, Vankuvero. Do, ni iros. Ni ekvojaĝos la 27an de majo por komenci novan vivon, vere el preskaŭ nenio. Ĝis nun ni ankoraŭ ne havas laborpostenojn nek loĝejon, sed ni prenas ŝancon kaj prepariĝas por oferi. (Freneze, ĉu ne?) Temas pri io kion ni simple devas fari. Niaj radikoj estas tro profunde kreskintaj tro frue en niaj vivoj, do jam temp' está por dehaki nin al libero kaj vidi kio okazos. Kial Vankuvero? Krom pri la frapa natura belo de regiono kie la montoj renkontas la maron, Vankuvero estas granda urbo kun ĉiuj necesaĵoj kaj viva kulturo sen esti tro grandega; ĝi estas konata pro amikecaj, socie progresemaj, konsciaj kaj antaŭeniremaj homoj kun malstreĉa sinteno kaj amo al naturo; kaj ĝi havas unu el la plej bonaj klimatoj en Kanado. Unu el la plej bonaj urboj de la mondo sen foriri de unu el la plej bonaj landoj en la mondo; norda sen vintro... kion plian oni povus voli? Ne estas multo kion Vankuvero ne ofertas, kaj ni tre ekscitiĝas pri nia ŝanco ekmalkovri ĉiujn la kialojn kiuj igas ĝin pintranga loĝloko! Ni ankaŭ tre bonŝancas ĉar ni havas tie unu-du amikojn kaj hazarde ankaŭ kelkajn parencojn de Karlina. Revizitu ofte por aŭdi ĝisdatigojn dum niaj ege okupataj kaj ekscitaj kvin semajnoj restantaj antaŭ la vivgrava vojaĝo! |
